Notes on variance are here. Please take note of section 2 and read it through. As with the expected value material, you won't have to reproduce the proofs, but you should pay close attention to the tricks used to prove the different bits, since they tend to come up a lot. Notes on conditioning are here. We will cover the second half of them on Monday.
